Software or hardware that manages private keys and facilitates sending/receiving bitcoin. Modern HD wallets derive unlimited keys from a single seed phrase. Wallets don't store bitcoin; they store the keys needed to sign transactions spending UTXOs.
Technical Notes
Types: hot (internet-connected), cold (offline), hardware, paper, multisig. HD wallets use BIP-32/39/44 derivation. Watch-only wallets have xpubs but no private keys. Wallet software builds transactions, signs them, and broadcasts to the network.
