A feature enabling near-instant node startup by loading a pre-generated UTXO set snapshot. The node validates transactions immediately using the snapshot while downloading and verifying historical blocks in the background.
Technical Notes
Snapshot = serialized UTXO set at specific block height + hash commitment. Background validation eventually catches up, proving snapshot correctness. Included in Bitcoin Core 28.0+. Reduces sync from days to hours while maintaining full validation.
