Consensus Rules
Consensus● Common

The set of rules that all nodes must follow to validate blocks and transactions. Include block size limits, signature verification, coin issuance schedule, and script execution. Changes require coordinated network upgrades. Violations result in rejection.

Technical Notes

Core rules: 21M cap, block subsidy schedule, valid signatures, no double-spends, difficulty adjustment, timestamp rules. Consensus code is the most security-critical part of Bitcoin. Bugs can cause chain splits or inflation (CVE-2018-17144 example).
