Block Timestamp
Fundamentals● Common
Unix timestamp in block header. Must be greater than median of past 11 blocks, less than 2 hours in future. Used for difficulty adjustment, timelocks, and ordering. Miners have ~2 hour flexibility.
Technical Notes
Median-Time-Past (MTP) = median of last 11 blocks, used for timelock validation (BIP-113). Time warp attack: manipulate timestamps to reduce difficulty. Great Consensus Cleanup proposes fix.
