Transactions recorded directly on the Bitcoin blockchain, broadcast to all nodes and included in blocks. Provides the highest security and finality. On-chain transactions pay fees and consume block space.

Visible to all nodes, immutable once confirmed. Current capacity: ~7 transactions/second average, ~4000 per block. Fees vary with demand. On-chain analysis examines this public data. Contrast with off-chain (Lightning, sidechains).
