A lightweight verification method where clients download only block headers (~80 bytes each) instead of full blocks. Can verify that a transaction is included in a block using Merkle proofs. Enables mobile wallets without storing the full blockchain.
Technical Notes
Headers-only: ~60 MB for entire chain history. Request merkle proofs from full nodes for specific transactions. Privacy concern: reveals which addresses you're interested in (mitigated by BIP-37 bloom filters, but those leak info too). Neutrino (BIP-157/158) improves privacy.
