Transaction size measurement for fee calculation: (3 × base_size + total_size) / 4, rounded up. SegWit witness data counts as 1/4 weight. Fee = feerate × vsize. Replaced byte-based fee calculation post-SegWit.
Technical Notes
Base size: transaction without witness. Total size: full transaction with witness. vsize ≤ total_size always. Max block weight 4M WU = max ~4M bytes if entirely witness (theoretical) or 1M base size.
